I made a trip to Boots the other day, as you do, and everything was ‘Buy One Get One Half Price’ ... Danger!

I can’t explain what happens when I step into that store, but I just become more of a crazy, beauty junkie ( x 100 ). The basket just fills itself up with shiny stuff, and before I know it I’m wandering out in a perfume induced daze, carrying a 20kg bag of make up/skin + hair care, with my purse floating behind me.

 

 I could have done some real damage to my poor poor bank account, but luckily my boyfriend was there to restrain me from buying 20 million lip balms which I ‘definitely’ needed...because that would make 10 million of them half price!? 
 

Which actually isn’t as good of a deal as my brain thinks...

Instead, I only came out with 2 things, or one?

Can we just take a moment to appreciate the amazing colours? So pretty for Summer. 
These guys are super shiny, and highly pigmented.
I love them, and they're great value for money at £4.19.

I noticed that when you first apply them, they need a couple of seconds to level out like, well, gloss. I didn't notice any feathering, and found the staying power pretty good. I wore Rebel for about 3 hours before I had to top it up, and in that time I ate some chips and drank some water. (through a straw, like a lady)

As you can see, they are really true to colour and translate well onto the lips, and I have fairly pigmented lips to begin with. That's the main reason I usually steer clear of bright colours, because they end up muted, but as soon as I swatched these in the shop I was excited. One swipe put enough colour on, but for a bulletproof lip I whacked on another layer. As for removing, I just used a face wipe and it came off surprisingly easy, I was expecting a bit of a fight with it being sticky.

Unlike some similar lip products, these lip lacquers wear away evenly, without leaving gloopy patches. Attractive. The only possible down side is how sticky they are, not that it really bothers me, but I would gladly wear a hairband, rock a ponytail, or style an up-do to wear these :]

I'm genuinely happy that I bought these, and recommend them to anyone who is after a nice, bright lip for Summer.

Guess Who's Back, Back Again...

So, it’s been awhile since I blogged...

(understatement)

I was finding it hard to juggle my YouTube with blogging and a new job, so I just lost my inspiration I guess, but I’m back now! I’ve got a handle on stuff :]

I’m planning on blogging once a week, and then after a while a couple of times a week.

Gemma Arterton | Hansel & Gretel | Hair Inspiration

I went to see ‘Hansel & Gretel:  Witch Hunters’ at the cinema the other day and loved Gemma Arterton’s hair in it. It was a twisted, messy and out of the way style .

('cause she lives an active lifestyle, killing witches and all)

 

The film was pretty good too, even though I read some bad reviews, I really liked it. It was kind of like the first 'Underworld' film, but with witches not vamps and wolves. Oh, and the witches in it are really creepy too, but so much so that they're amazing! I particularly liked the crazy, conjoined twins. Genius.

It's just all round awesome :] go check it out if you like that kind of thing. I saw it in 3D and I think it was one of the best 3D films I’ve seen, as it didn’t disappear half way through!

But back to the hair.

It changed a little throughout the film, from braids, to curls from what I can remember. There doesn’t seem to be that many pictures floating about of her hair either. Anyway, I took inspiration from it and created a tutorial! I decided to do it on straight hair, because it obviously works on hair with a bit of texture, and it turned out great – it stayed in all day with a touch of hairspray.

So that bungee hair tie post... | DIY Hair bungee

So, forget that post about the bungee bobbles! You can make them yourself, you just need 2 bobby pins/hair clips and a bobble of your choice.

1. Take bobby pins and loop onto bobble
2. Your done

Yep, that simple, cheap and easy. I almost feel foolish for parting with money for the bungees. Never mind, such is life. The best thing about the DIY is you can choose different bobble thickness for your hair type, customisation is always a winner!

Macadamia Hair Oil | Review

That’s the top and bottom of it, but I guess you probably want to know why, so I shall expand on the magicalness below...

So, I have long, thick, coloured hair, that’s definitely prone to a curl and wave on a regular basis, or a blast from the hair dryer, and tumble with a hairbrush. Sorry Hair. In other words, it gets a tad abused, but Macadamia oil sorts it all out for me, so my hair looks pretty and doesn’t fall out with me/off my head.

 

- It can be used on all hair types, on wet or dry hair and as a deep treatment or everyday control and shine booster

- When you pop it on damp hair, the oil pushes out the water because, obviously, water and oil don’t get along. So this makes your hair dry quicker, and if you leave it to dry naturally it’s also healthier
 

- On dry hair it not only tames the frizz and hides split ends, but it also gives your hair a natural shine

- You only need about a 10p size, at the very most, so it lasts a very long time. I’m only just at the end of my 30ml bottle that I’ve had since around October, which I’ve used it at least 3 times a week, so it’s great value for money

- Application is easy peasy. Pour out onto your hand, and always rub into palms before smoothing it evenly over the lengths of your hair. Never near your scalp because shiny roots aren’t a good look

- Also, it smells good. I would say it’s a nutty masculine smell, but not overpowering or that noticeable when its on your hair

 

I got my little pot of joy here, but you can get it on Amazon too and no doubt a tonne of other sites.

I’ve tired argan oil, which I found wasn’t anywhere near as good, but I’ve not had a chance to get my hands on the Moroccan oil. I’ve read/heard that the latter has a strong scent and is much heavier? Any thoughts?

Sick sick sick

I've been struck down with the Norovirus :[ (well the last few days)
I am now in quarantine.
Sad. I never really get ill.
On the plus side I've lost a few pounds of weight and gained a few in cash from being housebound.
Also, my skin is getting a break from make up.

Bungeeeeee | The New Hair Bobble

Considering I make hair tutorials on YouTube, I've realised that I haven't actually featured any hair stuff, so here it is, my first hair related post...

 

Bungee Hair Ties

 

 

This is the first time I've tried them and I really like them. They're comfortable, easy to use, and hold your hair where you put it without it dropping. This is the main reason I got them, because there's nothing worse than putting your hair in a high ponytail, and having it drop through out the day! You just kind of anchor it in under your ponytail, wrap it around a couple of times, and hook the other end in too. Done.

I read reviews on these particular ones that said they snap, so I'll let you know if it happens, but they seem pretty sturdy to me. I got them off amazon here, but I imagine they'll be popping up in shops soon :]
